Here's my happy thought for the day! This lovely yarn arrived just this afternoon. I was on my way out the door to pick up the big kids from school when I saw the package peeking out of the mailbox. I thought it was some boring astronomy thing for Stuart, and was so excited to see this instead that I took along with me in the car, cutting at the packaging with my tiny Swiss army knife at red lights!
Now I'm in a quandary trying to decide on the perfect sock for it. I really, really want to cast on for it Right. This. Second., and can't decide between a simple stitch pattern and a plain ol' vanilla sock. I will admit I have a great weakness for vanilla socks, but have a serious problem with ladders that I'm always afraid will show itself when I least expect (or want) it. Maybe garter rib? Hmmm. Much to think about.
The thermometer has taken a nasty, sick, disgusting dip, and we're looking at freezing temperatures all this weekend here. Yuck. I recently borrowed a copy of The Bountiful Container from my library, and have become enthralled with the idea of planting a succession container garden. Much more manageable than the big garden (which, if Stuart has his way will be given over completely to potatoes, and maybe a few viney things like zucchini) considering my rather large belly, and still productive, frugal(ish) and fun! Sigh. I guess next weekend will have to suffice, I really can't see Stuart filling pots and dragging them up onto the deck for me to plant, nor do I have any desire to be sitting on the deck in freezing temperatures. I'm a bit of a baby that way. How about you? Any big weekend plans?
oh, I really really love that yarn! I saw her blog post about it, but had to step away from the pc.... sigh. so pretty! I can't wait to see what you knit up
how about coming for a visit? 83 degrees today. I got sunburned (again) at soccer and the boy played in the yard with the hose and dog. wet dog, yum!

Wow! Those colours! I took the link (thank you!) how amazing is that yarn?!?!?!? I'm really looking forward to seeing how it knits up.
We'll be celebrating Avery's birthday this weekend, his 33rd! (his birthday is the 21st)... weather is a bit on the cool side but no freeze alerts. Take care and stay cozy!

I'm glad you like it! I would love to plant fruit and vegetables in containers here, but there are just so many bears in the neighbourhood, they'd be permanently camped on our patio if we did. I'm definitely looking forward to some planter boxes with herbs and flowers though. As soon as it stops snowing... argh!

Brrrr....this is crazy weather. I'm going to be up in your town in the next couple of weeks and I am sure hoping things warm up a bit!! Container gardening sounds like a really good idea.

Ooh I hope you've given and cast them on - beautiful yarn. Sorry to hear the weather is cold and you can't show off that great pedicure. Hope spring gets there soon for you. I've got a lovely weekend of seeing friends and crafting planned - what could be nicer :o)

Interweave Knits had a great tutorial a few issues ago on a 2x2 rib sock that was lovely to knit. Sorry about not having the specifics at hand. LOVE the yarn - anything will look wonderful!
I'm laughing at your weather (in a good-hearted way, really!). I was sweating up a storm in the 80 degree heat today trying to figure out how to build a chicken coop. Many, many steps. Most without any real instruction. Keep hope alive - you'll be sweating soon, too!

Vanilla socks are my mainstay for quick knit socks. (LOL, I consider two weeks quick.) Those shouting colors will get noticed no matter the pattern.
We're having freezing weather down here too. It even snowed today. I was visiting a friend who reminisced about her son's seventh birthday party, 43 years ago, when the boys played in the falling snow, in Portland, on Apr 23.

I love that way of finding colors.
Sorry about the weather. If it's any consolation, we're not going to the beach any more either -- not as cold as yours, but cold again.

That yarn is so nice and cheery, and the warm colours a perfect counterpoint to the chilly morning here.

That is such pretty yarn!

Love the new yarn!
I had a nice, productive day Saturday. Yard work, cleaned the garage up some, etc, but Sunday morning my back went out on me. That put a halt to all other plans.
