During the second half of August, I had to go away, on my own. I was having some medical stuff done that can't be done where I live (nothing serious, just inconvenient), and so left Stuart to be Single Dad Extraordinaire while I headed off to Vancouver, BC. Being away from my family was much tougher than I thought it was going to be, and I sought solace in a really fabulous local yarn shop, called Three Bags Full. Finding myself one day with a free afternoon, and feeling lonely and out of place in the big city, I headed down to the yarn shop with my knitting, and hung out there for the afternoon.
I finished my vest while I was there, and fell to the temptation of the brand new More Last-Minute Knitted Gifts, as well as a skein of Cascade Magnum. I used them to make this scarf for Joan, the sweet lady (Liam's preschool teacher), who offered to take care of the kids while Stuart was at work. It was such a relief knowing they were in good hands, and with a person they (meaning Mr. Liam) were comfortable with.
Joan was blessed with a new granddaughter this summer, and so I also picked up a skein (or 4?) of Blue Sky Alpacas Dyed Cotton, and knit up this little hat (which, coincidentally, is from the first Last-Minute Knitted Gifts!). I absolutely love this yarn, it's soooo soft, and the delicate pink was perfect for a baby girl hat.
One of the Ravelry groups I'm a part of, Stash and Burn Groupies is holding a Single Skein September event - what good timing, eh?
I trust that you're okay, and aware that good wishes are coming your way. And good for Stuart to have all that quality parenting time.

I hope that everything went well for you. I want that book ;) and I noticed there's a one skein sock book too!
Pretty scarf, I'm sure your friend loved it.

Well wishes coming your way! I've made a couple of those hats - aren't they the best? Even the i-cord! Nice job Charity!
