When I was a little girl, my mom & I loved to read Victoria Magazine. For a while, I even had my very own button collection, which I kept on a string in good Victorian fashion. Although those buttons are long gone now, my love of them hasn't faded, and I am always on the lookout for something special.
My favourite local yarn store recently started carrying buttons, and then to top it all off, purchased a close-out lot of buttons from somewhere out of town. I happened upon them by accident, when I went in looking for a nice button for my new hat (green, of course). Naturally, I wanted to buy one of everything, to start a brand new button string, but I resisted - for the monst part. Several of my favourites did end up making it into my bag... I wonder what to do with them all?
I love buttons too! Have you heard of the Button Floozies'Blog?http://buttonfloozies.blogspot.com/
I too made the Robin's Egg hat and used a vintage button from my collection to make it pretty. http://dominanthands.blogspot.com/2010/12/robins-egg-hat-this-fiber-arts-friday.html

I subscribed to Victoria for years and years too. When I sold my collection to move onto the boat, I cried. But it went to a teen girl at the auction who was so excited, she sat in the car reading them the rest of the afternoon.
I felt better. :)

I love buttons, too! I don't collect any, but whenever I'm in a craft store I just have to go look at the selection of burrons.

I've seen some lovely pictures made of arrangements of buttons framed up. Not the most practical use for them but a nice way to sit and admire a collection! And they are lovely buttons too :)

I used to read Victoria magazine years ago too.
Such pretty and unusual buttons. I imagine them made with pearls and beads into some sort of accesory like a bib necklace.
