- Stuart gave me these cozy slippers for Christmas, and although I secretly think they kind of look like Grandma slippers, they keep me fabulously warm, and I love them dearly.
- We recently borrowed the movie Shakespeare Retold (modern day re-telling of 4 plays) from the library - it was awesomely good. Even better, one of the happiest moments of my week came when my 7-year-old asked if we could please, pretty-please-with-sugar-on-top watch some more Shakespeare! Ahhhh.... so good. You have to watch it. (Although I didn't show the kids Macbeth - even in present day retelling, it's a bit to dark and creepy for them.)
- I discovered, via another blog buddy, the Autumn hat pattern, and I've been on a bit of a hat binge ever since. I have one, Liam has one, and I've got one for Katie on the needles right now. What's not to love in a cute, flattering hat that knits up in mere hours? I wonder if I can convince Stuart to wear one? Matching hats for everyone!
- Another library movie success (we watch a lot of movies on cold winter nights) was Mama Mia. Now, what you have to understand, is that I'd never really heard ABBA music before. So we're sitting there, Stuart & I, and I ask him, "What's this song? It's good!" He answers, "It's ABBA." A little while later, with another happy song playing in the movie, I ask the same question, and get the same answer, this time with a bit of a tone. I think to myself, whatever, and go back to my knitting and movie watching. The third time I ask, though, poor Stuart exclaims, "It's ABBA! The whoooolemovie is ABBA!" So, it seems I like ABBA - what a wonderful thing to discover! A friend of mine lent me her CD of ABBA hits, and the kids & I have been rocking out on a daily basis. Liam especially likes to dance around the house with me to Does Your Mother Know, and Take A Chance on Me. Too fun, and a great way to chase of the February Blues! What are you doing to chase off the grungies at this time of year?
